With this feature, you will be able to shield your money from fraudulent monetary transactions and scams, giving you peace of mind knowing that the funds, which you may not need daily access to are safeguarded.
Choose your preferred amount (min. $1,000 in your current or savings account’s currency) to lock and protect.
Rest assured there will be no impact to your account benefit - this means your locked funds will continue to enjoy account benefits such as the earning of interest.

What is Money Lock?

Money Lock feature allows you to prevent any unauthorised fund transfers, shielding your money from fraudulent monetary transactions and scams. This feature safeguards your funds which you may not need daily access to.

You may lock your funds on the Citi Mobile® App and Citibank Online, applicable to your existing current/savings accounts.

For added security, locked funds can only be released by raising an unlock request via CitiPhone hotline (6224 5757) or in-person at our Citigold Client Centre at Asia Square Tower 1, Level 21 upon successful verification.

Will I be able to earn interest on my locked amount?

Yes, you will be able to continue earning interest on your locked amount. Interest rates earned will be based on the existing current/savings account benefits.

Are my Money Lock funds insured?

Singapore dollar deposits of non-bank depositors are insured by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC), for up to S$100,000 in aggregate per depositor per Scheme member by law.

Foreign currency deposits, dual currency investments, structured deposits and other investment products are not insured. For more information, please refer to SDIC's website at www.sdic.org.sg

Am I eligible for Citibank’s Money Lock?

Eligible customers with existing current/savings account (sole and “Joint OR” relationship) will be able to access the Money Lock feature on the Citi Mobile® App and Citibank Online.

Please note that this feature is currently unavailable for time deposits and current/savings accounts with “Joint AND” relationship.

What currencies can be used with Citibank’s Money Lock?

You may use your account’s currency: SGD, or foreign currencies. Please note that there is a minimum input of $1,000 for each Money Lock request.

The maximum input allowable is determined by the available balance* in your account of choice.

How do I know if the Money Lock set-up is successful?

Upon successful locking of funds:

  • Push Notification/SMS and Email Notification will be sent to you.
  • You may view your “Total Locked Amount” under your current/savings account dashboard. If you have more than one set-up, consolidated amount will be shown
How are my funds affected once the Money Lock request is made?

Please ensure sufficient balance in your account of choice for new or existing payment arrangements before locking your funds. Locked funds cannot be used for any new or existing payment arrangements. Existing payment arrangements will not go through if there is insufficient available balance in current/savings account. Some examples of payment arrangements include but are not limited to payment & transfer, standing instructions, future dated transfers, loan or mortgage repayments, investment placements, recurring credit card payments, fees, etc.

How do I retrieve funds from my Money Lock set-up?

For added security, locked funds can only be released by raising an unlock request via CitiPhone hotline (6224 5757) or in-person at our Citigold Client Center (Asia Square Tower 1, Level 21) upon successful verification.

  • After raising an unlock request via CitiPhone hotline and upon successful verification and further review, you will be contacted within 2 days. Please note that our CitiPhone Officers will do up to 3 callbacks (from 8am to 8pm SGT) for unlock requests. Your request to retrieve funds will be cancelled if we are unable to reach you via a phone call after 3 call attempts.
  • Upon successful unlocking of funds, you will receive a Push Notification or SMS and Email Notification.

Please note that funds will be released in full from the Total Locked Amount on account level. Requests for partial release is currently unavailable. To illustrate, you will only be able to release S$3,000 if you have made the following Money Lock set-ups:

Total Locked Amount in Citi Checking Account: S$3,000

Money Lock Request 1: S$1,000

Money Lock Request 2: S$2,000
